What’s worth knowing this week in Denver August 11-17, 2017? Last chance to get general admission tickets to this weekend’s annual Cherry Creek North Food and Wine. Plus, where to find edible bugs and Taylor Swift stands up for herself in the Denver Courthouse.
This drizzly, cool weather already has me longing for the crisp days of fall and spiced cider. And then I have to remind myself that it is only early August, that this cool weather will pass, and we still need to enjoy every last bit of summer we can. Colorado Parent’s 10 Things to Do Before Summer Ends (August issue) was just the reminder I needed. Rockies game? Check. Hang out at a mountain resort? Check. Camp out? Check. (But hoping the weather holds this weekend for that last one!)
How will you be squeezing the last little bit out of summer? Here’s a few more ideas…visit one of these Colorado summer camps for adults, sample one of Denver’s best summer vegetable dishes, or try out one of these “family fun” activities. (Also, check out these 600+ ideas for summertime in Denver before it’s too late.)
A few more things of interest this week…
Babette’s Bread is back at The Source. Modern steakhouse Urban Farmer opens in LoHi this week, as does Citizen Rail, promising wood-fired meats and a dry-aging room.
Stella’s on 16th (right behind Union Station) closed rather unexpectedly after only 7 months in business. And LoHi’s Central Bar is now Candela’s Latin Bistro.
The Zen Compound, a nightclub/art gallery/cafe/co-working space will open in Denver this fall.
First it was yoga and beer, and now Denver is taking the exercise-and-drink combo up a level. Check out this guide to the “brunch and burn” series throughout RiNo.
I’m a somewhat adventurous eater but eating bugs is not something I expect to embrace any time soon. But those less squeamish should take a peek at Colorado’s first (and only) edible insect ranch.
Did you know kids can golf for free at these Aurora courses?
It’s not just your imagination…seems Colorado drivers are among the worst in the country.
Wondering about all of the hullabaloo at the Denver Courthouse this week? The nationally followed Taylor Swift “groping case” is going on right now and she was in court yesterday to testify. As I woman, I sure hope her bravely speaking out can give other women (and girls) the confidence to speak up, too.
What are you up to this weekend? So many cool events happening in Denver this weekend, it’s almost hard to keep track! Everything you need to know about the Colorado Classic Race and the accompanying Velorama Festival. A few more options…Cherry Creek North Food and Wine, HaHo Market, The Super Flea, and Denver Parade of Homes. Plus a slew of more things to do in August in Denver.
Enjoy the weekend!
