What should you know this week in Denver March 24th-30th, 2017? Top Chef is coming to Denver, the city wants your feedback on improving parks, and what to do with your kids for a Denver spring break staycation.
File this under “Things that Are Not the Least Bit Surprising”…Denverites likes to drink. A lot. Drizly, the incredibly convenient mobile app that delivers alcohol right to your door, showed Denver as the third highest in sales nationally over St. Patty’s Day weekend, just after NYC and Boston.
On a related note, Colorado’s microbreweries are getting a little competition from Colorado’s craft distilleries. Traditionally I’ve always been a glass of red kinda gal myself, but lately I’ve been partaking of more than a few bourbon cocktails and I’m surprised by how much I enjoy them. So I’m very curious about Laws Whiskey House’s recently released award-winning bonded whiskey, the only Colorado whiskey ever to earn the coveted Bottled-in-Bond status. Apparently it makes for a pretty tasty cocktail.
Perhaps it’s no surprise that I’m also pretty excited to see that Tennyson Street will soon be getting a cocktail bar. (And, I swear I have other interests. Really.)
Berkeley’s Yogi Exchange is hosting a Grape Street Greetings and Craftery pop-up tomorrow (10-4) if you happen to need a fun gift or slyly irreverent greeting card.
The City of Denver wants your thoughts on how to improve Denver’s parks. The city’s held open house meetings all week, but you can still give your feedback through this online survey.
Top Chef is a big deal in our house…my 5-year-old judges every meal. On occasion I’ve been told, “Mama, please pack your knives and go home.” He thinks it’s a good way to get out of eating his dinner, I’m sure. He’s one of the many locals who are incredibly excited to learn that the next season of Top Chef will be filmed right here in Denver.
The first season of the Winter Park Express has been deemed a big success and officials are even looking into adding amenities like food and drinks for next season.
If you’ve ever thought about getting away from it all and heading out on the road, this Denver couple is selling their very unique “honeymoon” camper.
What are you up to this weekend? We’re starting our spring break staycation. I’m thinking of checking out Kids’ Day at the Wings Over the Rockies Museum, and maybe try a few of these ideas for what to do with your kids in Denver over Spring Break. Other interesting options…Collaboration Fest (maybe this one without the kids?) and Denver March Pow Wow. Plus more things to do in March.
Enjoy the weekend!
